Third generation Audi Q5 set for September 2, 2024 reveal
Believe it or not, the second-generation Audi Q5 has been with us for 7 years. First debuting at the 2016 Paris Motor Show and launched for the 2017 model year, the luxury compact crossover is due for a full model change. Sure, there was a facelift for the 2021 model year but the Q5 needs to turn over a new leaf.
Fast forward to 2024, Audi has decided to reveal the first teaser (and details) of the next-generation Q5. Set to make its official debut on September 2, the third generation Q5 will feature a sleeker look, more high-tech features, and new & upgraded powertrains.
Based on the initial teaser photo, the Q5 will get a more dynamic-looking exterior. The LED headlights feature a more elongated design. Also worth mentioning are what appear to be more aggressive-looking LED daytime running lights and what appear to be new LED projector lamps. Other exterior details have yet to be revealed although we won’t be surprised if the Singleframe grille will have a more distinct appearance than before.
When it comes to powertrain options, it will likely share the same engine choices found in the recently launched A5 (previously known as the A4). That means we will likely expect a 2.0L TFSI four-cylinder engine that makes between 150 PS and 204 PS, a 2.0L TDI that generates 204 PS, and a 3.0L TFSI V6 that puts out 367 PS. Electrified engines are also expected to be offered. Last but not least, a dual-clutch gearbox will likely be the sole gearbox option for the 2025 Audi Q5.
"The Audi Q5 has represented the success of Audi for more than 15 years. With the third generation of our most successful SUV, we will now begin rejuvenating our SUV portfolio with efficient combustion engine models and hybrid versions," said Audi CEO Gernot Döllner.
With the September 2 launch only several days away, we will be keeping a close eye on what to expect once the all-new Q5 makes its grand debut.
