Refreshed Nissan Z revealed with exterior and chassis updates for the 2027 model year
Last week, tuners and automakers showed their creative side at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon. From unique one-offs to special concepts that will preview an upcoming vehicle, this year's show had plenty on offer for both enthusiasts and buyers.
Also making its presence felt at this year's Tokyo Auto Salon was Nissan who showed several vehicles. One of those is the refreshed Z for the 2027 model year. That's right, the Nissan Z gets its first facelift, and it gets some styling and chassis updates.

Starting with the most obvious (or not-so obvious), the 2027 Nissan Z gets a restyled front end. The vertical slits are no more, as the refreshed Z features a split grille design that's similar to the 2024 Nissan Z Heritage Edition. The result is a more sculpted look that seems to have been inspired by the “G Nose” of the 240Z/S30Z.
Other subtle changes include the removal of the rear wing on the tailgate and replacing the Nissan logo in the front with a new “Z” badge. When it comes to the noticeable updates, the 2027 Z gets a new color called Unryu Green, which takes inspiration from the 240Z/S30Z's Grand Prix Green. The refreshed Z is also equipped with new bi-color wheels that replace the previous single-color alloys.

Open the doors, and the 2027 Z welcomes you into a new tan interior. Paired with the Unryu Green exterior, the two-seater evokes a classy yet old-school charm that reminds us of classic Aston Martins. Design-wise, there are little to no changes inside the Z, as it still comes with the familiar touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a digital gauge cluster, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, and the instrument gauges on the center dashboard.

Under the hood remains the 3.0L twin-turbo V6 that delivers 405 PS with 475 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to either a 6-speed manual gearbox with rev-match function or a 9-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.

Also shown was the new Nissan Z NISMO, which is now available with a 6-speed manual transmission. Almost everything has been carried over from the pre-facelift version, apart from the new gearbox offering. As before, the more powerful Z NISMO makes 426 PS with 521 Nm of torque. The retuned 9-speed automatic transmission has been carried-over but as mentioned earlier, the 6-speed manual is now available for enthusiasts who prefer to shift gears on their own.
The 2027 Z NISMO also comes with some chassis upgrades, like more powerful brakes derived from the R35 GT-R and a refined suspension to deliver a softer ride.

The 2027 Nissan Z will be launched in Japan later this year, around summer, which means other markets like the Philippines may have to wait until the end of the year or perhaps sometime in 2027. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the new Unryu Green exterior color, the tan interior, and the 6-speed option for the Z NISMO will be offered by Nissan Philippines Inc.
