Will the Geely Geome Xingyuan mini EV make sense in PH?
For the past several months, BYD Cars Philippines has been busy launching new model after new model in quick succession. With the company looking to disrupt the electrified car market, it’s not surprising that BYD Cars Philippines wants to reveal as many new energy vehicles (NEVs) as possible.
Geely Philippines may have been quiet as of late but that doesn’t the automaker itself has been resting on its laurels. Over in its home market, the company recently revealed something that could rival the likes of the BYD Dolphin and perhaps some ICE-powered vehicles in terms of performance, technology, and size.

Say hello to the Xingyuan, a cute and funky electric hatchback that has bags of character and plenty of high-tech features. Launched under the brand’s Geome company (formerly Geometry), the Geome Xingyuan measures 4135mm long, 1805mm wide, 1570mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2650mm. Side-by-side with the Dolphin, the Geome Xingyuan is 10mm longer and 35mm wider. It’s also worth mentioning that despite being a hatchback, it has massive (and wide) tires that somehow make it look more like a mini crossover SUV.
Design-wise, the Xingyuan adopts a cute aesthetic that makes it stand out from a sea of hatchbacks. It has elongated LED headlights, smooth curves throughout the exterior, wraparound LED taillights, a two-tone paint finish, and aerodynamically designed alloy wheels. It also has a power tailgate and a 70-liter frunk to store additional cargo when needed.

Inside, the Xingyuan features an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster along with a central touchscreen infotainment system that’s available in two sizes; 10.1 inch and 14.6 inch. Other key features include a 256-color LED ambient lighting, 3D satellite navigation, over-the-air updates, a 4-speaker sound system, and a two-tone cabin (optional).
Powering the Geome Xingyuan is a lithium iron phosphate battery pack provided by CATL. Entry-level models come with a 30.12 kWh battery pack while higher-grade models come with a bigger 40.16 kWh pack. The former has a range of up to 310 km and powers an electric motor that puts out 78 PS and 130 Nm of torque. The latter, meanwhile, is rated to cover up to 410 km and makes 114 PS with 150 Nm of torque.

In terms of recharging, a DC fast charger can quickly recharge the battery from 30% to 80% in as little as 21 minutes. Alternatively, the system also supports 3.3 kW of AC charging which is slower but more practical for most customers.
There’s no word yet if Geely plans to offer the Geome Xingyuan outside of the PRC. But given brands like BYD and Jetour are already selling affordable EVs in the Philippines, perhaps Geely is biding its time to offer it soon. After all, some customers prefer affordable EVs yet packed to the brim with features.
