Wagon version of Hilux Tamaraw to be sold in Indonesia
The recently launched Toyota Tamaraw (formerly Hilux Tamaraw) is flexing its customization potential with the versatility of its IMV-0 platform. While the base body styles consist of dropside, aluminum van, and utility van, business owners can opt for custom bodies under Toyota Mobility Solutions.
While that bodes well for those who want the Tamaraw for their business, we can also see that there’s clamor for the Tamaraw to have a wagon version and serve more as a family transport.

The official word for now in the Philippine market is that a “similar kind” may be offered in the future. But over in Indonesia, there’s already a more family-friendly version of the Tamaraw set to be sold in official dealerships according to the Marketing Director of Toyota Astra Motor who was speaking to Indonesian press.
They call it the Hilux Rangga SUV, where the Tamaraw’s body style has been transformed to feature an enclosed cabin, and three rows of seats for seven occupants. It was previewed a few months ago as a concept, but now Indonesia is putting it into production.
Based on reports, the Hilux Rangga SUV will still start life with a SWB cab and chassis body from Thailand (only TH and PH produce the Hilux Champ/Tamaraw), while the conversion will be done by Indonesian company New Armada. The said coachbuilder operates in a similar business model to the likes of Almazora and Centro, which also manufactures bodies for buses.

After New Armada finishes the conversion, the Hilux Rangga SUVs will then be sent back to Toyota Astra Motor dealerships to be sold as a complete vehicle.
In Indonesia, Toyota is set to offer the Hilux Rangga SUV by early next year in both gasoline and diesel variants, with pricing to reportedly start at around Rp 400,000,000 for the manual version with gasoline engine, or roughly PHP around 1.47 million in today’s exchange rates.
