Tim Kuniskis to lead SRT division
The three letter skunkworks division that used to transform Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram models into loud and rowdy vehicles is back.
Stellantis is relaunching the Street and Racing Technology division, or more commonly known as SRT, marking the return of high performance models across Stellantis’ American brands Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram.
It was made official through a YouTube video narrated by Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, the very same Stellantis executive that was responsible for the creation of the Hemi-powered Hellcat and Demon versions of Dodge models such as the Charger and Challenger.
Kuniskis himself will also head the re-established SRT brand as part of his new role in overseeing all North American brands under the Stellantis umbrella. Kuniskis will report directly to Stellantis CEO and COO Antonio Filosa.
Based on the video, the SRT division will consist of the best powertrain and vehicle dynamics engineers from the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram brands, united as a dedicated team that will also oversee the motorsports division of Stellantis in North America.
Details beyond those shared in the video are still under wraps, but considering that SRT performance will cover the whole CDJR brands, we won’t be surprised if they also bring back models such as the Grand Cherokee SRT, or even the 300 SRT8.
One thing’s for sure though, this is very good news for fans of performance.
