Spot the changes in the 2025 BMW M4 facelift

BMW subtly gives the M4, M4 Competition a refresh for 2025

The regular 4 Series wasn't the only vehicle BMW gave updates for the 2025 model year. Also receiving several upgrades inside and out is the mighty M4. That's right, both the convertible and hardtop versions have received plenty of changes including a minor bump in power which we'll get to later.

Let's start with the exterior first. While the changes are not easily noticeable, BMW did give the 2025 M4 a new set of LED headlights. The automaker claims that both the low and high beams now function in the same LED module – resulting in a more functional design. It also gets new LED daytime running lights that make the front fascia stand out more.

The taillights have also been given attention as they now feature BMW's Laserlight technology which is also available in the M440i. Other key changes on the exterior include the M badge on the trunk lid and new wheel designs that include the optional M forged lightweight alloy wheels.

The same design changes first seen in the 2025 4 Series are inside the refreshed M4. However, this particular vehicle gets a generous serving of carbon fiber accents and trim pieces. There's also a new steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara – perfectly complementing the carbon fiber-clad cabin.

Like all BMWs today, the 2025 M4 comes with the Live Cockpit Plus which consists of a 12.3-inch digital cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment media display. It now runs on the latest iDrive 8.5, which has plenty of in-car functions like navigation, wirelesss Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, and many more.

At the heart of the M4 is a souped-up 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo straight-six that's saddled with either a 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The regular M4 generates 480 PS with 550 Nm of torque while the M4 Competition xDrive makes more with 530 PS – an increase of 20 PS over the pre-facelift version. Torque, on the other hand, remains the same at 650 Nm. But if you prefer the RWD version of the M4 Competition, you only get the standard 510 PS.

With the BMW M4 already available in Europe, it might be a while before SMC Asia Cars Distributors Corp can bring the powerful coupe into the country. Let's hope it will make it here before the end of 2024.
