SPIED: Next-generation BMW X7 to spawn iX7 EV variant?

The BMW X7 has been with us for quite some time now. Heck, it first came out in early 2019 for the Philippine market and has already received a facelift. With the first-generation X7 already up there in years, it's ripe for a full model change, and BMW has been busy testing the next-generation model.

Thanks to our spy photographers who were able to spot a full-size three-row SUV recently, we might not have to wait long. That's right, the next-generation BMW X7 might just be around the corner, and like the iX3 and iX5, the X7 will also spawn an all-electric variant.

Recently caught by our spies is a lightly camouflaged X7, but here's the kicker: it has an E-license plate and blue brake calipers. It also has no visible exhaust pipe, and our spies even mentioned it passed by them without making a noise at full throttle. This all points to the rumored iX7, which is already being tested by BMW, it seems.

The exact specifications have yet to be revealed, but it will reportedly have an 800V architecture and the ability to travel up to 650 km at least. Higher grade versions, however, could reach up to 800 km or more with a larger battery pack. Output-wise, the iX7 may generate up to 800 PS in its most powerful form.

As for its design, the next-generation X7 (and iX7) could get an evolutionary redesign based on the photos our spies captured. The front fascia will likely get a revised dual headlight design, with the upper portion being equipped with LED daytime running lights. Meanwhile, the lower segment will get redesigned LED headlights. The dual kidney grille could also get some changes and may become smaller in the next iteration.

The rear, meanwhile, is still heavily covered and has yet to be fitted with the production LED taillights. However, it's quite clear the rear will get a new tailgate to give it a bolder appearance. The rest of the vehicle will see the all-new X7 (and iX7) come with bolder and larger fenders, as well as what appears to be a sloping roofline.

With the next-generation X7 already being tested and looking like a production vehicle, we're keeping our fingers crossed that we won't have to wait long for the big reveal.
