SPIED: All-new Hyundai Tucson spotted with Kona-like design

Next-generation Hyundai Tucson has been sighted anew

It's been several months since we last saw Hyundai testing what could be the next-generation Tucson. The automaker is not yet ready to show what the fifth-generation will look like, but based on what our spies saw months ago, it looks like it will get a retro-inspired design just like the Santa Fe.

Fast forward to the present day, our spies managed to take new pictures of the all-new Tucson being tested somewhere in Europe. Just like the previous sighting, the prototype Tucson is still covered with false body panels to hide its final look. However, we do get a better look at what the crossover SUV could look like once everything is revealed.

Based on initial impressions, the all-new Tucson could get a Kona-like front fascia, along with a two-tier headlight design (LED headlights below, LED daytime running lights on top). It's also worth mentioning that the next-generation Tucson could get a growth spurt, as the crossover appears to be bigger and larger in size.

The rear of the all-new Hyundai Tucson is still heavily camouflaged, but it appears it will get a new set of minimalist-looking LED taillights. Also curious to see are the covered door handles, which could mean the crossover might come with a redesigned set.

Under the hood, the fifth-generation Hyundai Tucson will reportedly only be available with electrified engines. That means it will likely be offered as a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) or as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). This also means the all-new Tucson might no longer get a turbo-diesel under the hood since Hyundai is shifting towards a more sustainable means of making powertrains.

The all-new Tucson is expected to make its official debut later this year, around Q3. With that, we're hoping Hyundai reveals more details about its new compact crossover closer to launch.
