Skyway 3 G. Araneta Maria Clara off-ramp remains closed due to flooding, trash

Skyway 3 NB Maria Clara Exit not yet passable to vehicles

For the past several days, Metro Manila and almost the entirety of Luzon have been battered by a deluge of rain due to the intensified Southwest Monsoon. As a result, major roadways across the metro and surrounding provinces were submerged in water.

However, elevated toll roads such as San Miguel Corporation's (SMC) Skyway system remained open despite the onslaught of rain. Even other expressways under the SMC like SLEX, STAR Tollway, NAIAX, and TPLEX remain operational as well.

Unfortunately, the G. Araneta Maria Clara off-ramp along the northbound lane of Skyway 3 remains closed to all vehicles due to flooding at the at-grade section, following the overflow of the Talayan Creek last July 21, 2025. The creek's capacity to hold water was also affected due to accumulated trash, which also obstructed water flow. As a result, the off-ramp will continue to remain closed as cleanup efforts are ongoing.

In a statement, SMC said that “while the responsibility for clearing and maintaining waterways lies with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Quezon City Government, SMC Infrastructure has been supporting cleanup efforts by regularly removing waste from the creek. However, sustained improvement requires the timely hauling of collected garbage and stricter enforcement of waste disposal regulations.”

With the G. Araneta Maria Clara off-ramp still closed to all vehicles, SMC has advised motorists to find alternate routes for the time being.
