First look at BYD's Seal 06 DM-i PHEV station wagon
What other car manufacturers percieve as unthinkable doesn't seem applicable to BYD. Especially when it comes to making cars, as evidenced by the recent launch of BYD's Seal 06 DM-i Touring Edition station wagon in China.
Based on the diversity of their current product offering, it looks like the automaker is inching towards its goal of having a complete line-up of vehicles to expand their market share across the globe.

More particularly for the European export market, where the wagon body style continues to be in demand. Style-wise, the 5-door wagon retains the signature BYD marine design influences that's shared across the rest of the line up. Thanks to its streamlined silhouette, the station wagon achieves a low aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.284 Cd.
Like most vehicles in the BYD stable, the front end fascia has front and rear styled LED lighting with sleek bumpers that compliments the rest of the body. The body has a length of 4,860 mm, 1,890 mm width, 1,505 mm height, and a wheelbase of 2,790mm.

The station wagon has always been about interior space and the BYD Seal 06 DM-i Touring Edition can comfortably seat five passengers. What's more, it comes with 670-liter trunk space that increases to 1,535 liters with the rear seats folded flat. The standard model comes with an 8.8-inch LCD meter, a 12.8-inch touchscreen with 6 speakers, heated and ventilated front seats, 6 airbags and LED headlights that come as standard. The top model increases the touchscreen size to 15.6 inches with 8 speakers and 7 airbags.

Propulsion comes from BYD's fifth-gen plug in hybrid system with two powerplant options. The entry-level variant has a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine that puts out 99 PS paired with a 161 PS electric motor. It can do 0 to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds with a fuel consumption of 3.15 liters per 100 km. A FinDreams-made LFP 10.08-kWh battery powers this system, providing up to 80 km of EV range under CLTC conditions.

The second powerplant option has the same engine, but with a more powerful 215 PS e-motor making it capable of 0-100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. It also adopts an LFP pack with a capacity of 18.71 kWh, suitable for 150 km of electric range (CLTC). Due to the increased weight, it has a fuel consumption of 4.25 liters per 100 km, while the battery could be charged from 30% to 80% in 25 minutes. Thanks to a 65-liter fuel tank, BYD claims this PHEV can drive up to 2,000 km.

Standard safety features also abound as the entry-level variant comes with BYD's D Pilot 100 God's Eye-C driver’s assistance system. This includes 12 cameras, 5 mm-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars. The “100” number indicates the system’s computing power in trillion operations per second (TOPS), allowing it to support semi-automatic driving on the highway.
While the BYD Seal 06 DM-i Touring Edition station wagon has yet to reach our shores, this certainly adds another interesting variant to BYD's already impressive line-up of interesting PHEV vehicles.
