Seventh-generation Lexus ES gets second facelift for 2025

The seventh-generation Lexus ES has been with us since 2018 and has already received its first facelift in 2021. Since we're already nearing 2025, we were expecting Lexus to reveal an all-new generation of the luxury sedan. However, we were surprised to learn that the automaker is not yet done with the current generation ES.
The facelifted Lexus ES recently made its world debut at the 2024 Auto Guangzhou. Refreshed for the 2025 model year, the four-door luxury sedan has some exterior changes and a slightly tweaked cabin.
Starting with the former, the 2025 ES gets redesigned LED matrix headlights that give it a more dynamic appearance. It also gets a new spindle grille that gives it a flashier appearance. Last but not least, the ES comes with updated LED taillight graphics along with a new full-width light bar.
Hop inside and the interior largely carries over from the previous version. These include the digital instrument cluster, the sleek center console, the LED ambient lighting, and leather upholstery. New, however, is the introduction of the new 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system derived from the all-new RX.
Not only does the system have more crisp graphics, but it also comes with more features and amenities. Besides having a touch-sensitive screen, users can also control the system via a rotary knob on the center console.
Other available features inside the 2025 ES include; a Mark Levinson sound system, power-adjustable front seats with a memory function, a more intelligent voice control system, a redesigned gear selector, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Under the hood, the 2025 Lexus ES is available with two powertrain options in the PRC. The range starts with the base model ES 200 which comes with a 2.0L naturally-aspirated four-cylinder that makes 170 PS and 199 Nm of torque. Next is the ES 300h which has a 2.5L naturally-aspirated inline-four that's assisted by an electric motor that delivers a combined 210 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Both powertrains are mated to a CVT that drives the front wheels.
With the 2025 Lexus ES now available in China, perhaps other markets like the Philippines could also get it soon. But with the vehicle already nearing a decade old, Lexus could also be preparing to reveal the eighth generation model that will succeed the current ES.
