Authorities suspended and arrested drivers involved in separate road rage incidents
Navigating the roads of the Philippines is a daily ordeal that pushes a driver’s abilities and composure to the brink. It’s a landscape of clogged arteries, where narrow lanes are made even more impassable by illegally parked vehicles and PUVs treating public roads as their personal terminals. While this chaotic scene may be a routine part of the daily commute for some, for others, it is a constant battle against the limits of their patience.
Recently, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) suspended a driver’s license for 90 days to an individual who was caught on video giving the middle finger to another motorist.

The footage shows an SUV driver illegally counter-flowing on a double yellow lane, and when a motorist appeared to block his path, the driver was seen angrily confronting him, making the middle finger gesture, and even threatening to exit his vehicle to continue the confrontation.
In response, the LTO has issued a Show Cause Order (SCO) to the vehicle’s registered owner, who’s a resident of Quezon City. The order will help determine if the owner was the one driving the SUV during the incident. The LTO was further agitated by the incident, as it was found out that the SUV, a Mitsubishi Montero Sport, was being driven with an expired registration.
“Verification from the LTO database disclosed that the motor vehicle was last registered on February 22, 2022, and has since not been renewed in violation of the compulsory registration requirement under Section 5 of Republic Act No. 4136,” said LTO Chief, Atty. Vigor Mendoza II.

Meanwhile, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has presented the suspect in the murder of a Meralco employee who died in a road rage incident in Dasmarinas, Cavite.
Police reports indicate that the arrested person was driving a red Toyota Corolla fatally shot a Meralco employee in a road rage incident along Jose Abad Santos Avenue. The victim was in his company vehicle when the Corolla driver reportedly drove alongside him and shot him in the head. The suspect, who was seen fleeing the scene on CCTV footage, has since been arrested and is facing murder charges.
