LTO Chief sacks alleged kotong enforcers in Region IV-B

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has announced the sacking of several of its Region IV-B employees, following an order from Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao, after they were allegedly caught receiving money in exchange for preferential services.

According to the LTO, it has discovered that a Job Order (JO) personnel had been accepting illegal payments through digital wallets such as GCash, while a regular employee was allegedly caught collecting money in exchange for “faster transactions.” The contract of the JO personnel was ordered terminated immediately, while the regular employee was placed under preventive suspension pending investigation.

In a separate case, another employee was also suspended for 90 days while under investigation over allegations of corruption related to workforce positions and promotions.

“Ang ating pangako sa isang LTO na walang katiwalian ay ganap. Hindi natin kukunsintihin ang anumang porma ng pandaraya o pag-abuso sa kapangyarihan. Ang mga magtataksil sa tiwala ay haharap sa buong bigat ng administratibo at legal na kahihinatnan.”
