Panamera “top model” is new record holder

The Nürburgring-Nordschleife is a legendary circuit to many, but Porsche is quickly turning it into its own playground.

After setting the fastest four-door record with the Taycan, Porsche has broken another record in the ‘Ring. This time, it’s the lap time for luxury class cars with combustion engines and hybrids. The car? Well, it’s the future top model of the third-generation Porsche Panamera.

The laptime is 5.6 seconds faster than the previous-generation Panamera Turbo S, thanks to a combination of an “electrically supported” 8-cylinder combustion engine, stickier Michelin tires, and a more aggressive carbon aero kit.

Porsche says a video of the complete lap will soon be available on their YouTube channel, but the big question is what will the new top Panamera variant be called? Will it gain the Turbo GT moniker like the Taycan? Or is it another Turbo S? That we’ll find out soon.
