Officially called the G 580 with EQ Technology, the electric 4x4 SUV from Mercedes-Benz looks just like any ordinary G-Class (or G Wagen). It still even gets the similar boxy look as the standard G Wagens. However, it does get some unique exterior changes like a closed-off grille, a slightly raised hood, air curtains in the rear wheel arches, and unique alloy wheels.

Hop inside, and the G580 with EQ Technology largely shares the same cabin as its ICE counterparts. These include the Nappa leather interior, the LED ambient lighting, and the high-definition dual digital displays on the dashboard that are powered by the brand's MBUX infotainment system. It also comes with a sporty leather steering wheel, contrast stitching throughout the interior, power-adjustable front seats with memory function, and various drive modes for the user to play with.

At the heart of the G 580 with EQ Technology are four electric motors that are powered by a high-capacity 116 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The electric motors crank out a combined 587 PS and an impressive 1,164 Nm of torque. On a full charge, Mercedes-Benz claims the electric G-Class can travel up to 475 km based on the WLTP cycle.

From a standstill, the G 580 with EQ Technology can rocket itself to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds and reach an electronically-limited top speed of 180 km/h. Despite not having internal combustion, the zero-emissions G-Class can still go off the beaten path thanks to the electric 4x4 features like torque vectoring that generate virtual differential locks, which ensure maximum traction and handling over any terrain. It also gets three-speed intelligent off-road crawl functions, G-Roar, G-Turn, and G-Steering, which is the brand's version of tank turn.
