The upcoming Omoda C3 takes inspiration from sci-fi and anime
After showing off the Omoda C5 SHS, C7 SHS, and the Jaecoo J5 EV during the 2025 Auto Shanghai, little did everyone know that Omoda had another winning surprise up their sleeves. Previewed ahead of its global launch in October 2025, the Omoda C3 took center stage, and it surely proved to be the highlight of the Omoda Day event.

Combining angular and purely geometric designs, the overall styling of Omoda C3 takes inspiration from science fiction and robotic machinery. Looking straight out of a Japanese manga or anime, the C3 was specially developed to appeal to a younger generation of car buyers. This is evident as the overall body incorporates geometric lines and angular surfaces, creating a strong mechanical influence.

The striking details extend throughout the vehicle from the angular wheel arches to the intersecting angles on the front and rear fenders. This is also evident from the front fascia with sleek headlamps to the rear lightning-inspired taillight design.

While we have yet to see what it looks like on the inside, the Omoda says the C3’s dashboard takes inspiration from space-age starships, further highlighting its sci-fi inspirations. It also features mechanical buttons and a fighter jet-style instrument panel, creating a futuristic driving experience.

Making it more appealing to a younger set, passengers can play video games using wireless controllers with slots for portable gaming devices. Another feature is the aircraft-style, flip-up start button. Located on the center console, this gives off a Lamborghini look and feel with lots of carbon fiber and ambient lighting.

Roy Xie, Brand Manager of Omoda C3, presented the vehicle to the media during the preview event, emphasizing that the Omoda C3 is more than just a machine, “it’s a companion to the driver.” Xie also confirmed that the Omoda C3 will be a global product with its official launch set to take place in October 2025. After which, the Omoda C3 will gradually be made available in the overseas market, including the Philippines.

While there's no definite power options yet, it would likely share a similar hybrid powertrain setup from its stablemates. Something like a 1.5-liter engine with a compact electric motor and a reliable battery pack, running on a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). Based on its size, it should ideally generate over 200 PS and more than 300 Nm of torque with a combined range of up to 1200 km, making it appeal to a wider market.

The addition of the Omoda C3 is a clear indication of Omoda's commitment to offering a complete lineup of vehicles to the local market. What's more, the addition of the C3 also addresses Omoda’s gap in the global small-crossover market.
