Nissan PH boss announces that there will be plenty of new vehicle launches next year

Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. may be experiencing some financial storms as of late, but over here in the Philippines, the Japanese automaker continues to enjoy a strong market presence and relatively high sales. From models like the Navara, Terra, Kicks e-Power, Z, Livina, Urvan, and the Patrol, Nissan is still on top of mind for many Filipino buyers.

But with some the Nissan’s current offerings already getting up there in years, the automaker needs fresh new products in its portfolio. Luckily, Nissan plans to introduce new vehicles in the Philippines starting in 2026.

During a recent media event, Nissan Philippines president Masao Tsutsumi announced that the automaker will have numerous product launches next year. While the executive did not go into specifics, Tsutsumi did mention that Nissan’s upcoming launches will be exciting and will showcase the brand’s high-tech offerings.

While we have no clear idea yet of what products Nissan will launch, we already have some intelligent guesses about what Nissan PH has in store for 2026. One of the likeliest vehicles the automaker will bring is the Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid (PHEV) pickup. First revealed at the 2025 Auto Shanghai, it has the likes of the BYD Shark 6 on its crosshairs, thanks to an electrified 1.5L turbocharged engine, an electric motor, and a high-capacity battery pack. With plug-in hybrids continuing to grow in popularity, perhaps the Frontier Pro PHEV can help Nissan get a larger share of the electrified car market.

Another possible vehicle Nissan could bring to the Philippines is the N6 or N7 sedans. While both vehicles may look the same, they differ in terms of powertrain. The former was just recently revealed and is a PHEV four-door midsize sedan that has a 1.5L engine, an electric motor, and a 21.1 kWh battery pack. Nissan says it has an electric range of up to 180 km and can travel up to 1,600 km, combined. This will pit the N6 against the likes of the BYD Seal 5.

Meanwhile, the N7 is the EV version of the midsize sedan. It’s proving to be quite popular over in China and is available with either a 58 kWh or a bigger 73 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack. This gives the N7 a cruising range between 540 km and up to 625 km, based on the CLTC cycle. The former has an electric motor that produces 215 PS, while the latter makes 268 PS. There have also been sightings of the N7 on Philippine roads, though we’re not sure if they come from gray market dealers. Should it be launched, it could give the likes of the BYD Seal EV something to think about.

The last possible vehicle Nissan could launch is the X-Trail e-Power. The electrified crossover recently made its debut in Thailand, which was just a few months after Indonesia launched it in the region. In both markets, the X-Trail e-Power is only available in one variant, the AWD e-4ORCE, which consists of two electric motors, a 1.5L turbocharged inline-three, and a 1.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Since Nissan Philippines Inc. already previewed the X-Trail e-Power at the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), perhaps Nissan has decided to hold its Philippine launch for next year.

With Nissan Philippines not yet ready to spill the beans as to what they have in store in 2026, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for possible leaks and perhaps more info from the automaker about their upcoming product launches next year.
