New leadership for Nissan Philippines
There are some big changes happening again at Nissan Philippines.
In an announcement, Nissan Philippines says it will welcome a new president on 1 April 2026. His name is Yoshinori Kanazawa.
Kanazawa is a veteran of Nissan, with nearly 2 decades of experience in the company. He has held positions in Japan, China, and other international markets. Most recently, he was the Managing Director of the Nissan Importers Business Unit (NIBU), ASEAN, and Managing Director of Nissan Singapore (based in Thailand). As such, he is already familiar with the market developments in the ASEAN region and brings experience from China, where he worked on strategic planning and network expansion.
Kanazawa succeeds Masao Tsutsumi, who has been promoted to president of Nissan ASEAN and Thailand. Tsustumi has had the challenging task of leading Nissan Philippines through a difficult time in the company’s history, particularly in their global fiscal health. Nevertheless, Nissan still held strong under Tsutsumi’s leadership, working closely with the organization and dealer partners to enhance the customer experience even with an aging lineup and without any significant new models except the Patrol.
During Tsutsumi’s term, however, the company finally initiated the planning for the introduction of the N7, Frontier Pro, and another model from Nissan’s R&D and factories in China. Given the incoming president’s experience with Nissan in China, we expect he could be instrumental in this big shift in Nissan’s strategy in the Philippines.
