Nissan Z NISMO to have stick shift option by 2027

Most people prefer to drive with two pedals for everyday motoring, but that doesn’t mean that the good ‘ol manual transmission is dead.

In fact, the three-pedal layout has carved its own niche in the sports car market, where enthusiasts celebrate the thought of rowing the gears by themselves in this day and age.

Nissan has recently ended production of its halo supercar, the GT-R, after 18 years. And while they’re still taking their time to develop its successor, the Japanese manufacturer is giving us something to look forward to for the time being – Nissan is making a 6-speed manual version of the Z NISMO.

That development has been confirmed by Nissan Americas chairman Christian Meunier. Previously, Nissan did not exactly rule out the possibility of a 6-speed manual Z NISMO. The manufacturer said as long as there’s sufficient demand, they would make it happen. Well, as it turns out, the clamor is indeed real.

While the standard Z version is already available in the market with a 6-speed manual transmission option, the Z NISMO takes performance to a much higher level. It features extensive upgrades that focus on more power, enhanced aerodynamics, a track-tuned chassis, and a sportier interior.

The announcement could be made by next month’s Japan Mobility Show, but we may have to wait for the stick shift Z NISMO a bit longer than expected. Some reports indicate it could come around 2027.

Hopefully, when that time comes, the ship hasn’t sailed yet for those interested buyers and enthusiasts waiting for the manual version.
