The Philippines to host WorldSkills ASEAN 2025, avoid WTC and SMX areas
The Philippines is set to host the prestigious 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025, a major event showcasing the skills of young professionals from across the region. Convened by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the competition will run from August 21 to 31.
The main competition, spanning from August 26 to 28, will take place at the World Trade Center (WTC) in Pasay City, with a grand opening ceremony at the Marriott Grand Ballroom on August 25, and a closing ceremony at the SMX Convention Center on August 30.
With thousands of attendees expected, including competitors, students, industry partners, and government officials, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has issued a traffic advisory where motorists are being urged to avoid the event venues on the specified dates to prevent congestion.
In preparation for the large-scale event, the MMDA will deploy at least 85 personnel to implement traffic management and emergency preparedness measures. These efforts will cover key routes in Metro Manila, from the airport to various hotels and official engagement areas. The MMDA’s operations will be conducted in close coordination with the Philippine National Police, local traffic units, and other government agencies to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety throughout the competition.
