Mitsubishi & Premcar reveal Triton Raider for Australia

Mitsubishi has just revealed what could be the toughest version yet of the Triton pickup truck. With help from Australian-based company Premcar, the Japanese automaker has unleashed the Triton Raider, a rally raid-inspired build, which sees the pickup truck get some suspension modifications, as well as some chassis upgrades.

Starting with the most obvious, the Triton Raider gets a re-engineered suspension that was designed for a wide variety of off-road conditions in Australia. Premcar claims the Raider project was the result of 40,000 km of development and 7,000 km of testing in the Australian Outback. The reworked suspension comes with unique front & rear shock absorbers that have internal rebound springs, new front springs, and revised bump stops. This also gives the Triton Raider an additional 25mm of ride height and 25mm of extra track width.

Beyond that, the Triton Raider is also equipped with 18-inch ROH Assault alloy wheels, Bridgestone Dueler A/T 002 tires that measure 285/60, and underbody protection to guard the chassis against the rugged terrain. Heck, it even has a front skid plate painted red and shows off the “Raider” name to remind everyone this is no ordinary Triton.

Style-wise, the Triton Raider gets a sports bar with a red insert, side protection bars, a front garnish finished in Warm Dark Gray, Sandstorm side decals painted Brushed Bronze, and a Raider badge on the tailgate.

Under the hood, the Triton Raider still gets the carried-over 2.4L MIVEC bi-turbo-diesel engine. It produces 204 PS with 470 Nm of torque and is paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox with Mitsubishi's Super Select II 4WD system.

The Mitsubishi Triton Raider is available to order across all authorized Mitsubishi dealerships in Australia. There's no word yet if it will be available to other markets, but perhaps other regions or countries could make their own version of the Triton Raider.
