L300 PUV Class 1 gets LTO homologation documents

We can only think of two constant things in this world – that is change and the Mitsubishi L300.

Mitsubishi’s immortal model refuses to go away, and it looks to have found another purpose as a public utility vehicle. The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has released the homologation documents for a Class 1 PUV version of the L300.

So far, Mitsubishi has yet to reveal the L300 modern PUV in public, and the rendered photo is what we imagine the L300 would look like. Under the Class 1 PUV regulations, the L300 could come with features such as a digital signboard, a CCTV monitor, and an automated fare collection system.

The LTO document also suggests the L300 Class 1 PUV has a seating capacity of 13 passengers, including the driver. It’s less than the FB body of the L300 that can carry 15 to 17 passengers, as the Class 1 PUV body has side exit doors.

The L300 remains powered by the 4N14 Euro 4 turbodiesel that produces 99 PS and 200 Nm of torque, transferring power to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission with a steering column-mounted shifter.

With this new variant, the L300 will compete against the Isuzu Traviz, Hyundai H-100, and Toyota Hilux which have their own PUV Class 1 body styles. The L300 Class 1 PUV is already available on the MMPC website, but there are no indicative prices yet.
