Electrified SUV Aims for ‘Forever Adventure’ at Japan Mobility Show 2025
Say hello to the Mitsubishi Elevance Concept, an electrified crossover SUV concept that made its global debut at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. The concept car sits at the forefront of a lineup designed to inspire adventure, which also includes a prototype of the new Delica D:5 and the newly launched all-new Delica Mini kei-car.

“We chose ‘Forever Adventure’ as our booth theme to express our passion for delivering the timeless wonder of exploration. This spirit comes to life in models that embody the essence of Mitsubishi Motors – such as the Mitsubishi Elevance Concept, which integrates the best of our electrification and all-wheel control technologies, and the Delica series, now evolved with enhanced performance and refined styling,” said Takao Kato, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation.

Elevance Concept: Seamless Style Meets Quad-Motor Power
The Elevance Concept is positioned as an electrified crossover SUV designed to enhance the quality of time spent both on the road and at the destination. Its design balances elegance with strength, featuring a smooth, seamless cabin atop a taut, muscular lower body—a look inspired by the "Luxe Adventurer Concept."

Central to its capability is the advanced drivetrain: a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) system that utilizes an engine compatible with carbon-neutral fuel, delivering clean, electric-motor-driven performance for daily use. For true adventure, its large-capacity traction battery can power accessories for luxurious "glamping" when hauling a trailer.

The concept also debuts an evolved Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) technology featuring a quad-motor 4WD system. This setup incorporates in-wheel motors at the front for enhanced steering stability and dual-motor Active Yaw Control (AYC) at the rear for superior driving force. This advanced control promises superior road handling and minimizes wobble and sway, even over rugged terrain, to reduce the risk of carsickness.

AI Co-Driver paves the way for personalized journeys
Moving beyond hardware, the Elevance Concept introduces the AI Co-Driver. Displayed across a full-width LCD screen spanning the steering wheel and instrument panel, the AI offers personalized destination suggestions tailored to the driver's lifestyle, actively encouraging exploration. It also analyzes real-time road and vehicle status to recommend optimal drive modes for enhanced safety and confidence.

The interior reflects a commitment to high-class comfort. The cabin is molded into a seamless, shell-type form, creating an atmosphere of a "protective cloud of safety." The spacious three-row, six-passenger layout, complete with high-quality leather seats, is designed for long-haul comfort. Furthermore, the PHEV system can power onboard amenities like a kitchen and shower enclosure when paired with a trailer, truly transforming the vehicle into a mobile retreat.
It's not clear whether this new concept is a prelude to an all-new nameplate as with Mitsubishi's recent concepts. Design head Seiji Watanabe was indeed excited about what's to come for this "elevate" "advance" model.
