Mercedes-AMG C 63 goes black and it's not coming back

Mercedes has revealed that the new C63 AMG Black Series will be the most powerful C Class to date.

Customary with all AMG Black series vehicles, this beefed-up version of the C 63 Coupe comes with even more muscular wheel arches, flared bonnet air intakes, a black front splitter and side skirts, and air openings in front of and behind the rear wheels. The extent of the work done on the C63 Black is best summed up in the fact that the rear wings have been flared by as much as 42mm on each side thanks to those fat tires and 19-inch alloy wheels. It also features a new rear bumper with its distinctive black diffuser insert that creates visual breadth, similar to the SLS AMG GT3.

The highlight of the car is undoubtedly the engine with a reworked 6.3-liter engine that produces a massive 510 PS; an increase of more than 50 PS from the "standard" C 63 AMG. As a result, the naturally aspirated V8 should take the C 63 Black Series to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds. It sends power to the wheels via a seven-speed automatic sports transmission that comes with Sports and Race Start functions that allow shifts in just 100 milliseconds. The suspension is race inspired as well, thanks to a motorsport style coil-over setup.

Inside, the C63 Black comes with AMG bucket seats and a performance steering wheel, both featuring a DINAMICA microfibre that also appears on the door linings. AMG logos feature on the stainless steel door sills, while there is discreet 'Black Series' detailing on the boot and the dash.

The C63 Black Series will go on to sale in early 2012.
