Lexus reveals 2025 LX700h

Since it was first introduced in 1995, the Lexus LX has been serving as the more luxurious twin of the Toyota Land Cruiser. The latest generation has been around since 2021, and now Lexus has decided to add the option of getting hybrid power for the flagship SUV.

For the 2025 model year, Lexus has added the LX700h variant – adding an electric motor to the LX600’s 3.4-liter, twin-turbo gasoline V6 engine. While Lexus did not reveal power outputs, we reckon the twin-turbo V6 hybrid is the same engine found on the US market’s Tundra hybrid pickup.

In the Tundra, the 3.4-liter, twin-turbo iForce Max hybrid makes 443 PS and 790 Nm of torque, which is a small bump over the LX600’s non-hybrid that produces 415 PS and 650 Nm. Much like the non-hybrid version, the LX700h’s engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Much like the new GX, the LX is now available with a rugged Overtrail version. The off-road-ready trim comes in a five-seater configuration with front and rear locking diffs, new 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, and an additional 30-liter auxiliary fuel tank.

On the outside, the LX Overtrail gets blacked-out elements on the bumpers, grille, wheel arches, door mirrors, door handles, and roof rails. To complete the off-road theme, the LX Overtrail has an optional Moon Desert Beige exterior color.

Aside from this, all 2025 LX variants also get tech updates such as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, reinforced chassis for the hybrid, and a revised adaptive suspension. For active safety tech, the LX SUV now has autonomous emergency braking and a new driver-monitoring camera that detects unresponsive drivers.

While Toyota has not yet confirmed that a hybrid LC300 is coming next, Lexus usually gets first dibs when it comes to electrification based on their strategy. In that case, we should stay tuned in the next few months for more updates.
