LEAKED: Baojun Yep EV rebadged as Chevrolet Spark EUV

The Baojun Yep EV is set to be sold also by Chevrolet in other markets

It was back in 2023 when SAIC-GM-Wuling surprised everyone with the Baojun Yep EV. For those who are not familiar, it's a Jimny-sized EV that's powered by a 41.6 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery which drives a single electric motor that puts out 102 PS and 180 Nm of torque. On a full charge, Baojun claims the Yep can cover up to 401 km based on the CLTC cycle.

There's also a five-door version of the EV aptly called the Baojun Yep Plus. From its namesake, it gets two extra doors in the back to allow rear passengers easier ingress and egress. Size-wise, the Yep Plus measures 3996mm long, 1760mm wide, and 1726mm tall, and sits on a 2560mm wheelbase. It also has a ground clearance of 150mm and a generous turning radius of 5.35m.

At the time, it seems the Baojun Yep (and Yep Plus) will only be sold in the People's Republic. However, it looks like it may soon be available to other markets albeit wearing a different badge. According to a report by GM Authority, the Baojun Yep will be sold in other countries as the rebadged Chevrolet Spark EUV (electric utility vehicle).

Based on the photos obtained by the publication, the badge-engineered Chevrolet Spark EUV looks similar to that of the Baojun Yep Plus. From the LED headlights and taillights to the black body cladding, as well as the cube-shaped design, it's essentially the same vehicle but comes with Chevy's signature bow-tie emblems.

No cabin photos were revealed although we won't be surprised if it will look similar to the Baojun. With that, we can expect the EV to get similar features like a digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, and more.

As to where the Chevrolet Spark EUV could be sold, GM Authority shared that the upcoming vehicle was recently trademarked for Laos. With the EV supposedly on its way to Southeast Asia, we're hoping the vehicle could also be offered throughout the rest of the region, particularly the Philippines.
