Jetour X70 Lightning i-DM appears on Jetour PH website

If there’s one type of vehicle that’s popular in the Philippines, it’s 7-seaters. With an emphasis on bringing the family along for the journey, it’s no wonder three-row vehicles continue to be a staple on Philippine roads.

Jetour Auto Philippines Inc. has long offered an affordable 7-seater in the form of the X70 compact crossover. For 2025, the brand is set to offer more electrified vehicles, particularly plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). They already have the Dashing i-DM albeit in limited availability. To make PHEVs more attainable, they are set to offer the X70 Lightning i-DM.

It will serve as the PHEV version of their popular 7-seater which means it can travel on pure electric power over certain distances. The X70 Lightning i-DM has appeared on the automaker’s official website.

Based on the initial specs the automaker has revealed so far, the X70 Lightning i-DM will base its looks (and size) on the X70 Plus. It will measure 4785mm long, 1900mm wide, 1720mm tall, and a 2745mm wheelbase. Based on the images, the vehicle will have new LED headlights, a more stylish grille, a new set of alloy wheels, and a unique color called Jade Green.

Under the hood, it will have a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 156 PS and 220 Nm of torque. If those figures look familiar, that’s because it’s the same engine that powers the regular X70 Plus. But as we mentioned before, the X70 Lightning i-DM will benefit from an electric motor and a battery pack.

No exact details about its PHEV system have been revealed just yet. But a quick look at what other markets get has given us an idea of what to expect. Should these be the same specs for the Philippine market, the electrified X70 could come with a 19.34 kWh lithium ternary battery pack along with an electric motor. Power will then be transferred to a 2-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT).

Jetour Auto Philippines Inc. claims that on a full charge and a full tank of gasoline, the X70 Lightning i-DM can cover up to 1,200 km which is impressive. Recharging its battery from 20% to 80% can be done in as little as 25 minutes, depending on the charging station.

With seating for 7 and the ability to travel on pure electric power, the Jetour X70 Lightning i-DM could become popular among buyers who want an affordable and eco-friendly 7-seater crossover that's exempt from number coding. We’ve also received rumors that it will be priced competitively which means it may disrupt the 7-seater and plug-in hybrid crossover market.

We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for any new info regarding the X70 Lightning i-DM.
