JLR extends factory production until Sept 24 as cyberattack investigation continues

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has been having a rough September this year, as the automaker became a victim of a cyberattack. The incident happened earlier this month, and JLR shared that they took immediate action by shutting down their IT systems. Since then, the brand has been busy restarting its systems and initially announced that there was no customer data that was affected

After several weeks, however, the company is still working on restarting its global applications in a controlled and safe manner. This has resulted in the automaker's factory operations being halted and customer deliveries being affected as well. The incident has also affected JLR's suppliers, who are now worrying that the factory stoppage may result in mounting losses.

For now, JLR said they are working with third-party cybersecurity specialists around the clock to restart their global systems and resume factory operations. During the ongoing investigation, JLR has acknowledged that some sensitive data may have been compromised, and they have already notified relevant regulators about the issue.

As of this week, JLR has informed suppliers, colleagues, and partners that they have extended the pause in production until September 24, 2025. The company, in collaboration with cybersecurity specialists, continues to conduct a forensic investigation as JLR considers the various stages of a controlled restart of global operations in a controlled and timely manner.

“We are very sorry for the continued disruption this incident is causing, and we will continue to update as the investigation progresses,” said JLR in a press statement.

With production of JLR vehicles yet to restart, we're hoping the company will be able to resume operations as soon as possible.
