J5 is Jaecoo’s new entry-level SUV
Omoda and Jaecoo may be relatively new brands, but they are now trying to diversify their lineup of crossovers to fit a wider range of customer preferences.
At the 2024 Omoda Jaecoo International User Summit, Omoda and Jaecoo has revealed the J5 – their new entry-level SUV designed not just for the urban youth, but also exhibits pet-friendly features.

The Jaecoo J5 is a B-segment SUV that’s similar in size to the likes of the Omoda 5, Geely Coolray, and the GAC GS3 Emzoom. Despite being a smaller vehicle, the J5 takes its boxy look from its larger sibling, the Jaecoo J7.
Inside, the Jaecoo J5 welcomes you with a panoramic glass roof, as well as a large portrait-oriented infotainment system and a dashboard integrated digital instrument cluster. The crossover features two tone leather upholstery for a premium feel, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Omoda and Jaecoo says they want to create a comfortable and healthy environment for pets inside the J5. They equipped the crossover with extended seats, and the A/C filtration system blocks pet hair to keep the air fresh and clean at all times. Moreover, the J5 is equipped with an antibacterial health device to inhibit the growth of bacteria inside. There’s even pet-feeding devices and boarding steps for your furry friends.

Powering the Jaecoo J5 is a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder TGDi engine shared with the bigger J7. It makes 195 PS and 290 Nm of torque, and is paired to a 7-speed wet-type DCT. It’s also available in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel-drive.
Like the bigger J7, the J5 features off-road driving modes. For outdoor enthusiasts, Omoda and Jaecoo says the J5 can tow up to 1250 kg and carry 75 kg on its roof rack.
For now, the local arm of Omoda and Jaecoo is yet to announce if the J5 will be made available in the Philippines. But the brands say the J5 is set to make its way to international markets by 2025.
