The classic Isuzu TF gets more power and style thanks to a restomod

Think Isuzu TF and more than likely you'll think of the brand's classic pickup truck. It might not have the style and pizzazz of the D-Max but if it weren't for this simple work truck, the D-Max wouldn't exist in the first place. That's because the TF (later called the Fuego in the Philippines) is the predecessor of the D-Max and laid the foundations for the Isuzu brand to excel in the pickup truck market.

At this year's Bangkok International Motor Show, Isuzu Motors Thailand wants to pay tribute to the TF (AKA TFR in Thailand) with a restomod of the old school pickup truck. It's called the Isuzu Dragon Max and is set to make its debut soon at the annual motor show. The brand has yet to officially reveal it but they have already released teasers and several key details of the restomodded TF.

For starters, it will be powered by the brand's new 2.2L MaxForce RZ4F-TC turbo-diesel engine. It has been specially tuned to crank out 220 PS and an impressive 550 Nm of torque. This is a huge improvement over the TF's original 4JA1 diesel engine which only made 87 PS and 172 Nm of pull. Since the Dragon Max will be faster than the original TF, Isuzu also equipped it with Brembo brakes for better stopping power.

Style-wise, the TF-based Dragon Max by Isuzu features a retro-inspired design that keeps the classic looks of the original while incorporating new styling elements. Using a Space Cab variant as its base, the Isuzu Dragon Max gets an illuminated grille, LED daytime running lights, and what appear to be LED bezels for the foglights. Other exterior changes include new LED lighting, wide-spoke alloy wheels, and a stylish body kit.
