Toyota Motor PH gets approval for a new passenger vehicle with a 2487cc engine
Toyota Motor Philippines has been on a roll lately. After launching the all-new Vios Ativ, the company announced it will be debuting the bZ4X EV. In fact, the automaker is now accepting reservations, and prices will start at PHP 2.699M for Toyota's first-ever EV for the Philippine market.
But if you thought the automaker is done with surprises, they appear to be already preparing for next year's launches. Recently, we received information that Toyota was given approval to bring a new passenger vehicle that has a 2487cc engine and has a reference mass of up to 1,830 kg. Since the all-new Camry comes with a 2.5L hybrid engine that displaces 2487cc, we've already ruled out the midsize sedan as the mystery vehicle.

This leaves us with the possibility that TMP has already received regulatory approval for the all-new RAV4. Launched earlier this year, the sixth-generation Toyota RAV4 gets a complete makeover for its latest iteration and is now available with a GR Sport model that's available only with a 2.5L plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain that makes 324 PS.
For the Philippine market, however, TMP will most likely only offer the Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) model, which also comes with the 2.5L A25A-FXS engine that has an exact displacement of 2487cc. The FWD version of the RAV4 HEV makes a combined 229 PS while the AWD variant delivers a little bit more with 236 PS. Power is then sent to an e-CVT.

With the all-new Camry HEV on sale since last year, it would only be natural for Toyota Motor Philippines to eventually offer the all-new RAV4 HEV. The only question now is, when can we expect the automaker to launch the electrified crossover in 2026?
