Hyundai Motor PH celebrates 3rd anniversary with the launch of the all-new Kona

After a long hiatus, Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) has brought back a familiar nameplate. In celebration of HMPH’s 3rd anniversary, the Korean automaker has officially launched the all-new 2025 Hyundai Kona.

Revealed today at the BGC Amphitheater in Taguig City, the Hyundai Kona is now in its second generation and is offered solely as a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). That’s right, unlike the Elantra, which is available in a wide selection of powertrains, the Kona is powered solely by the brand’s 1.6L hybrid engine.

Under the hood, the all-new Kona gets a 1.6L hybrid four-cylinder that’s shared with the Elantra. Thanks to an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack, it makes a total system output of 141 PS and 265 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. Since it’s a hybrid, the Kona HEV benefits from regenerative braking and e-Motion that ensures smooth performance and handling.

Style-wise, the all-new Kona features a sleek and Cyberpunk-inspired look. It gets a futuristic exterior that’s highlighted by a signature LED horizon lamp and 3D garnishes on the front bumper, which give it a dynamic appearance. High-grade models, meanwhile, will come with stylish 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels for that extra pizzazz. Other key highlights include black body cladding, an LED light bar in the back, and automatic LED headlights.

Hop inside and the Kona welcomes you into what Hyundai calls “a living space”. With an emphasis on comfort and in-car amenities, the interior of the all-new Kona is both high-tech and inviting. It gets a driver-centric cockpit that consists of a pair of 12.3-inch displays that show the instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system. Also worth mentioning is the fact that, like most Hyundais, the Kona supports both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for easier pairing of mobile devices.

Other available amenities include a wireless charging pad with a cooling fan, Type-C USB ports, an electronic shift-by-wire system, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 60:40 fold-flat rear seats that provide up to 1,241 liters of cargo space, and a smart power tailgate.

For extra peace of mind, the 2025 Hyundai Kona comes with the brand’s SmartSense ADAS. This gives the crossover intelligent driver aids in the form of Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane-Following Assist, and Lane-Keeping Assist, among others. It also gets blind-spot monitoring and a surround-view monitor for extra visibility.
