Practicality meets fun-to-drive dynamics in Honda Super-One EV
Remember when Honda revealed the Super-One EV during the 2025 Japan Mobility Show? What was first revealed as a near-production concept is set to become a reality.
This comes after Honda announced it plans to begin sales in late May 2026 in Japan. In fact, Honda will begin accepting pre-orders at authorized dealerships throughout Japan starting on April 16.
So what can interested buyers expect from the Honda Super-One EV? For starters, the A-segment EV was designed to combine everyday mobility with an exciting and uplifting experience. With a name like “Super-One”, it represents Honda's aspiration to build a vehicle that transcends the traditional norms of an EV.

With its small size and subcompact dimensions, the Honda Super-One is both practical and fun to drive. It features sporty yet stable driving dynamics thanks to its lightweight design and quirky design. It also has a thin battery pack that's positioned under the center of the floor to give it a lower center of gravity.
With a curb weight of just 1,090 kg, it's one of the lightest EVs in its class but can muster a range of up to 274 km, based on the WLTC cycle. A single electric motor producing 64 PS provides the necessary propulsion. In Boost mode, however, power output is increased to 95 PS and delivers sharper acceleration. Complementing this particular mode are the paddle shifters to allow drivers to enjoy a more engaging driving experience.

Despite being an EV, the Super-One's electric motor is mated to a 7-speed transmission that mimics the gearshift feel of a traditional multi-gear transmission. There's also the Active Sound Control system, which produces and plays a “virtual” engine sound inside the cabin in accordance with driver input through the accelerator and brake pedal.

Speaking of sound, the Honda Super-One is equipped with one heck of a sound system from Bose. It has 8 speakers and was jointly developed with Bose to realize a dedicated audio system that's optimized for the Super-One's cabin. The system also features a high-capacity subwoofer that delivers a powerful, deep bass sound to clear highs – enabling all occupants to enjoy a concert hall-like experience.

With the Honda Super-One set to be available in Japan soon, can we expect other markets like Southeast Asia to get it now that EVs are becoming popular due to the ongoing oil shock?
