Two-door Integra concept breaks cover in China
There hasn’t been a Honda with a removable hardtop since the days of the CR-X del Sol back in the 90s – until the GAC Honda joint venture turned up at this year’s Guangzhou Auto Show.
Yup, what you’re looking at is not an AI-generated photo. GAC Honda has revealed the Integra Targa – which is basically a reimagined two-door sport compact that uses the current generation Civic platform.

Let’s be clear though, the Integra Targa concept isn’t meant for mass production, which means this is more likely a one-off for show purposes. But extensive work was visibly done to make it as close to a production version as possible.
GAC Honda moved the B-pillar further rearward and lengthened the front doors, while the rear quarter windows and glass hatch were retained to preserve the original rear silhouette of the Civic hatchback and create a Targa profile.

While the CR-X del Sol from the 90s was exclusively a two-seater, the Integra Targa can somewhat carry more passengers. Inside, the five-seat layout of the Civic was changed to a 2+2 arrangement, as the rear seats were converted into jumpseats. Based on the photos, GAC Honda added a touch of color inside with the red accents on the dashboard.
The Integra Targa has a six-speed manual transmission, so this is more likely to be powered by the 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo found in the local current-gen Civic units that are non-hybrid.

With the Prelude out and having a positive reception lately, should Honda also push in developing these kinds of cars again? Let us know in the comments.
