Toyota PH reveals all for the next-generation Tamaraw workhorse
After giving us a lengthy teaser and providing us a glimpse of its next-generation workhorse, Toyota Motor Philippines has officially revealed the specs, features, and variants, of the next-generation Tamaraw.

Right off the bat, TMP will offer a total of 5 variants of the next-gen workhorse. First is the Tamaraw Utility Van LWB (long wheelbase) which can accommodate up to 14 passengers. It measures 5305mm long, 1795mm wide, 2100mm tall, and has a 3085mm wheelbase.
It has a payload capacity of 885 kg and is powered by a 2.4L 2GD-FTV turbo-diesel engine that makes 150 PS at 3400 rpm and 343 Nm of torque at 1400 – 2800 rpm. It is then paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. When it comes to features, it has a 2-DIN sound system, foldable bench seats, and a rear air-conditioning system.

There's also a SWB (short wheelbase) version of the Tamaraw Utility Van which can seat a total of 12 passengers. It only measures 4970mm long and has a 2750mm wheelbase. Width and height are carried over from the LWB version, however. Its payload capacity is rated at 830 kg and is powered by a 2.0L 1TR-FE four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 139 PS at 5600 rpm and 183 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. This one also gets a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Next is the Tamaraw Aluminum Van which is strictly a two-seater utility vehicle. From its namesake, its main feature is a large aluminum box. No exact dimensions of the box were revealed although Toyota did share that it has a 1,015 kg cargo-carrying capacity. Motivation comes in the form of the 2.4L 2GD-FTV turbo-diesel that's mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Last but not least is the Tamaraw Dropside pickup truck. It measures 5305mm long, 1795mm wide, 1711mm tall, and gets a 3085mm wheelbase. The dropside also gets the highest cargo-carrying capacity rated at 1,125 kg. Like most of the other variants, it's powered by a 2.4L 2GD-FTV turbo-diesel engine that is connected to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Prefer an automatic version of the all-new Tamaraw? Believe it or not, Toyota is also offering the Tamaraw Dropside Hi. From its namesake, this particular variant gets a more powerful version of the 2GD-FTV which cranks out 150 PS at 3400 rpm along with 400 Nm of torque between 1600 – 2600 rpm. Power is then sent to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The payload capacity for this dropside pickup is 1100 kg.

Also worth mentioning about the Tamaraw Dropside Hi is it comes with more niceties and amenities. These include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, Black-Orange trim accents, LED headlights & daytime running lights, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, and power-adjustable side mirrors.
Order books for the all-new Toyota Tamaraw are now open. The company has yet to reveal the official pricing of the Tamaraw variants although Toyota has already revealed acquisition options through Toyota Financial Services. Low Down Payments of 10% are available as well as longer loan terms of up to 84 months (or 7 years). There's also the option of weekly payments of up to PHP 4,533. Interested customers can also get the all-new Tamaraw via the Toyota's T-Sure Trade-In Package.
