Hariphil Asia Resources boss Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo confirms North American models are coming
We can expect more North American models from Chevrolet to make their way to the Philippine market soon. This comes after Hariphil Asia Resources Inc. president & CEO Ms. Maria Fe Perez-Agudo confirmed that several models from North America will be arriving in the country in the not-so-distant future.
At last night’s launch of the all-new Chevrolet Groove, we asked the executive what possible models from the US could be made available in the Philippines following last week’s Philippines-US trade deal by President Ferdinand “Bongbong Marcos Jr. and US President Donald Trump. According to the boss of Hariphil Asia Resources Inc., she confirmed that models such as the Traverse and Equinox are set to arrive in the country.

“These are the North American models - Tahoe, Suburban, Traverse, and Equinox. They will be here,” said Perez-Agudo.

The Tahoe and Suburban have been offered in the country for several years now, but the Traverse is something that will make a Philippine comeback since the first generation arrived in the Philippines. Now on its third generation, the full-size, three-row crossover SUV gets a dynamic and sportier appearance. It’s powered by a 2.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 333 PS and 442 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Meanwhile, the Equinox is a compact crossover that is now on its fourth generation. It’s available with an internal combustion engine (ICE) and as a battery electric vehicle (BEV). The former gets a 1.5L turbocharged inline-four that produces 177 PS with 275 Nm of torque and is paired with either a CVT for the FWD version or an 8-speed automatic when equipped with an AWD system.
On the other hand, the Equinox EV is powered by the brand’s Ultium battery, which gives it a range of up to 525 km. Depending on the variant, the Equinox EV can generate between 223 PS with 328 Nm of torque and 304 PS with 472 Nm of torque. Its charging system is rated to accept up to 19.2 kW of AC charging and up to 150 kW when hooked up to a DC charger.

So far, Perez-Agudo has not said which exact versions of the Equinox, Equinox EV, and Traverse will arrive in the country. She did mention, however, that with the 0% vehicle import tariffs coming into effect, they will be working hard to bring new models into the Philippines from North America.
“Provided there will be no external factors that could affect this trade deal, we should brace ourselves and we will work hard to bring to the Philippines these North American models that we all wanted to have at a very competitive price,” added Perez-Agudo.
With these developments, it looks like the bow-tie brand will have a resurgence in the country in the coming months and years.
