UAAGI's upcoming Radar RD6 to be available as a plug-in hybrid
Last month, we received information that United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI) was given approval to bring a light-duty vehicle with a 1499cc gasoline engine.
Since UAAGI was appointed the Philippine distributor of Geely's Radar brand earlier this year, it looks like we can expect the company to launch the RD6/Horizon pickup truck in the not-so-distant future. We also spotted the first batch of the Radar RD6/Horizon pickups arriving in the country, not long after.
Fast forward to September, and the Department of Energy (DOE) has officially recognized not one, not two, but three distinct variants of the upcoming Radar RD6 EM-P plug-in hybrid (PHEV). While we initially thought UAAGI would call it the Radar Horizon EM-P, the DOE's updated list has revealed that the plug-in hybrid pickup will be called the Radar RD6 PHEV.

Based on the initial specifications we've gathered, the Radar RD6 PHEV for the Philippine market will all be 4WD and will be powered by the brand's 1.5L turbocharged Hybrid Special Engine called “Thor”. The engine makes a decent 156 PS with 370 Nm of torque and is assisted by a pair of electric motors. The front motor puts out 218 PS while the rear motor generates 245 PS.
With the help of a 19.09 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery pack, Radar says the RD6 PHEV has an electric range of up to 83 km while the combined hybrid range is rated at 1,000 km. The plug-in hybrid pickup also supports AC and DC fast charging, with the former having a charge rate of up to 6.6 kW while the latter is rated to support up to 50 kW of DC charging. Last but not least, the RD6 PHEV can be recharged in 3 hours (15% - 100%) via AC, but a DC charger can do it faster in 28 minutes.

Size-wise, the RD6 PHEV will measure 5277mm long, 1900mm wide, 1880mm tall, and have a 3120mm wheelbase. It also has a ground clearance of 225mm, a payload capacity of 800 kg, and a cargo bed that measures 1525mm long, 1450mm wide, and 540mm tall.
Other key specifications remain a mystery, but since there will be three variants, we can expect the RD6 PHEV to take on the likes of the BYD Shark 6. And since we're already in Q3 2025, maybe UAAGI will hold its official launch later this year.
