Check if your unit is affected

The Geely Emgrand was initially launched in the Philippines back when the brand was still distributed under Sojitz. But even so, the new distributor, Geely Motor Philippines Corporation, wants to ensure existing owners continued safety and optimal performance on their Emgrand units.

Geely has announced a recall that affects 562 units of the Emgrand made from August 3, 2023 to July 4, 2025. The issue lies in the fuel tank assembly, where a potential fuel leakage could be at risk due to insufficient venting of the Fuel Filler Cap.

The brand says this issue could create a vacuum in the fuel tank. In rare cases, it could even lead to fuel tank deformation and cause further leakage that could compromise safety.

That said, Geely says affected customers may avail of a free inspection at any authorized Geely dealership, where the units will be assessed if necessary repair or replacement of fuel components will be needed.

Geely also says customers will be notified directly, but they are also encouraged to contact their nearest dealer or email the brand’s customer care to confirm if their unit is included.

The campaign will run until August 2028, so there’s plenty of time for Emgrand owners to bring in their affected units for inspection.
