SMC bags PPP contract for TPLEX Extension Project
Back in June of 2023, the National Economic & Development Authority (NEDA) approved the PHP 23.4 billion, 59.4-kilometer Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) Extension Project.
A year after its NEDA approval, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has finally given its Notice of Award of the TPLEX Extension Project to San Miguel Corporation (SMC).

“The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) approved the resolution by the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Prequalification, Bids, and Awards Committee (PBAC) for PPP Projects recommending the award of the contract for the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the Tarlac - Pangasinan - La Union Expressway (TPLEX) Extension Project, to San Miguel Holdings Corporation (SMHC), the Original Proponent and Winning Private Proponent.”

The TPLEX Extension will run from Rosario to San Juan in La Union, with planned interchanges in the towns of Rosario, Tubao, Naguilian, Bauang, and finally in the surfing town of San Juan.
The project will be built in 3 segments: 18 kilometers between Rosario and Tubao for Segment 1; 23 kilometers between Tubao and Naguilian for Segment 2; and the last 18.4 kilometers between Naguilian, Bauang and San Juan for Segment 3.
