EDSA rehab 1st phase now at 60% complete says DPWH

The Department of Public Works and Highways announced that rehabilitation works along EDSA are now 60% complete, just three months after the project began in December 2025.

“The project is now 60% [complete] since it started in December 2025, along Roxas Boulevard [and] from Pasay to Orense, Makati,” said DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon.

Dizon also said the project goes beyond asphalt overlay and reblocking in some sections of EDSA, noting that it also aims to make the highway safer and more accessible for pedestrians and cyclists.

“So many are commuting on EDSA. This is life-threatening since there is no sidewalk, and people are walking on the road. It’s really dangerous. We need to have [the sidewalk]. The bike lane, we will include it in the sidewalk, like what we see in other countries.”

Phase 2 of the EDSA rehabilitation project will cover the Orense to Cubao stretch, and is set to begin immediately after the completion of Phase 1.

The DPWH earlier announced that its next major road project following the EDSA rehab will be the upgrading of Circumferential Road 5 (C-5), which connects the cities of Taguig, Pasig, Quezon City, and Las Piñas.
