UAAGI officially confirms Lynk & Co 08 EM-P PHEV for Philippine market
A few weeks ago, we found out that the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P was officially recognized by the Department of Energy (DOE) as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). With that, it looks like United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI) is gearing up for its official launch soon.
Fast forward to August, Lynk & Co Auto Philippines has officially confirmed that they will indeed be launching the 08 EM-P. That's right, the automaker will soon have another plug-in hybrid offering than just the Lynk & Co 01.

No official details are available with regard to the 08 EM-P's powertrain, but more than likely it will have a 1.5L turbocharged engine that's assisted by electric motors and a high-capacity battery. In fact, we recently received information that UAAGI received regulatory approval for a passenger vehicle with a 1499cc gasoline-powered engine.
A quick check online has revealed that the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P comes with a 1499cc turbocharged inline-four, which translates to 1.5 liters of displacement. Other details about the upcoming PHEV are not yet available, but based on what other markets get, the PH-spec 08-EMP could produce a combined 593 PS and 905 Nm of torque.

When equipped with a 39.6 kWh battery pack, the 08 EM-P is rated to travel up to 205 km on electric power alone based on the WLTP cycle. With the 1.5L turbo providing extra oomph, the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P is billed to cover up to 1,400 km before needing to recharge or refuel.
With UAAGI already releasing teasers about their latest plug-in hybrid, the Lynk & Co 08 EM-P could take on the likes of the BYD Tang DM-i and other similarly-sized PHEVs.
