MG Philippines releases teaser for upcoming October 24 launch

It was only a couple of months ago when MG revealed the next-generation 2025 HS. Not only does it get a sleek new look but it's available with an updated turbocharged engine as well as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) option. There's also a more high-tech-looking interior which gets a pair of 12.3-inch displays, along with more intelligent driver aids as standard.

Since the all-new HS only made its debut last July, we were expecting the compact crossover to make its way here perhaps next year. However, MG Philippines has other plans as they recently released a teaser image of an upcoming crossover.

Set to make its debut on October 24, 2024, it seems the automaker will be bringing the next-generation MG HS at this year's Philippine International Motor Show. Despite the automaker's best efforts to hide the vehicle, the overall shape and design of the mystery crossover somehow give it away. From the full-width LED lightbar on its taillights and the distinct roofline, they all point to the high possibility the all-new HS will make an appearance at PIMS 2024.

No engine details were mentioned by the automaker apart from releasing the teaser image. Back in June 2024, however, MG Philippines received regulatory approval for a new passenger vehicle powered by a 1490cc engine. Perhaps this could mean the all-new HS will be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. No exact figures were revealed although it's highly likely to make 300 PS or thereabouts.

In addition, MG Philippines received yet another regulatory approval for a passenger vehicle with a 1496cc engine. With that, maybe the MG HS will also be available with a turbocharged 1.5L inline-four that makes 169 PS with 275 Nm of torque. Alternatively, MG Philippines might also launch another mystery vehicle at PIMS 2024 that gets a 1.5L engine.

MG Philippines has yet to release other details regarding what they'll be launching on October 24. However, we won't be surprised if what they'll be debuting at this year's PIMS could be the all-new HS. The only questions now are, will it be a launch or a debut and will it be offered as PHEV?
