2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 wants to embarrass European exotics with its twin-turbo V8
It's been five years since Chevrolet launched the 8th generation Corvette. Dubbed the C8, the latest iteration of the bow-tie's sports car is available with a naturally-aspirated 6.2L LT2 V8 pushing 496 PS with 637 Nm of torque, a 5.5L all-aluminum flat-plane V8 generating 670 PS with 623 Nm of torque in the more powerful Z06, and an all-electric version dubbed the E-Ray which makes 655 PS thanks to a pair of electric motors.
Enthusiasts, however, may be wondering where's the flagship ZR1 which serves as the Corvette's ultimate evolution. After a long wait, Chevrolet has officially unleashed the most powerful version of its halo sports car.
Say hello to the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and it packs one heck of a V8 under the hood. While it gets the same 5.5L V8 as the Z06, the ZR1 version packs a pair of turbochargers which crank up the horsepower to 1,079 PS along with a meaty 1,121 Nm of torque. The engine is dubbed LT7 by Chevrolet and will give the likes of the Lamborghini Revuelto, Ferrari 296 GTB, and the McLaren 750 S literally running for their money despite having no hybrid assist.

Chevrolet has yet to reveal how fast the all-new ZR1 can go from 0 – 100 km/h. However, they did say that the souped-up Corvette will be able to “comfortably” hit a top speed of over 346 km/h.
Besides giving the V8 a pair of powerful turbos, the engine also gets mechanical upgrades to handle all that power. These include larger combustion chambers, new head castings with unique ports, an optimized valve timing & lift for forced induction application, and unique pistons & connecting rods. Even the 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox was upgraded with wider profile gears, more durable shafts, and better lubrication to handle the extra torque of the powertrain.

Helping the Corvette ZR1 shave off speed is a carbon ceramic brake kit that measures 15.7 inches in the front and 15.4 inches in the back. Meanwhile, it has staggered 20-inch wheels in the front axle and bigger 21-inch wheels in the rear axle. Depending on customer preference, the wheels can come in either carbon fiber or aluminum. Providing grip for the Corvette ZR1 are sticky Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
Despite producing well over 1,000 PS, the stylish looks of the all-new Corvette ZR1 are tamed at best – looking more like a variant of the Z06. But despite having a conservative appearance (by hypercar standards), its exterior is not just about looks but also about improved aerodynamics. It gets a carbon fiber front splitter, rocker moldings, side intakes with integrated cooling vents for the brakes, and a front underwing with stall gurney deflectors.

Also worth mentioning is the flow-through hood which allows air to enter the front grille, flow through the intercooler heat exchangers, and exit the hood to increase front downforce and cool charged air temperatures. It also has unique fresh air intake ducts made from carbon fiber on top of the coupe that are designed to cool the turbo compressor inlet air temperatures.
For even better aerodynamics, there's the optional ZTK performance package which unlocks the true track weapon potential of the 2025 Corvette ZR1. It gets a high-downforce rear wing, front dive planes, and a tall hood Gurney lip – all constructed from woven carbon fiber. It also gets underbody strakes that replace the standard stall Gurney to further increase front downforce. The suspension gets stiffer springs while the tires are upgraded to Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R for extra grip while on the limit.

“We went into the ZR1 program with lofty goals, but even our first development tests on-track showed the teams were already exceeding them. As we worked to develop this car, we continued to leap past expectations, and we knew we had a special Corvette on our hands,” said Tadge Juechter, Executive Chief Engineer for Corvette.

Production of the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will start in 2025 and will be built at the company's General Motors' Bowling Green Assembly plant in Kentucky. So far, Chevrolet Philippines offers the regular C8 Corvette at a whopping PHP 12,571,888. For those considering getting the ZR1, you might want to let Chevrolet Philippines know you're interested unless you opt for a gray market importer.
