Toyota PH begins retail sales of all-new bZ4X EV

After giving the motoring public a taste of things to come, Toyota Motor Philippines has officially joined the electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of the bZ4X. Serving as the brand’s first-ever EV in the country, the Toyota bZ4X represents the automaker’s zero-emissions dreams and joins the likes of the Lexus RZ and Lexus UX 300e as the brand’s fully electric offerings.

Beginning with the most important aspect, the bZ4X is powered by a 73.11 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that supplies energy to a pair of electric motors, delivering AWD capability. The front motor puts out 227 PS with 269 Nm of torque, while the rear motor produces 120 PS and 170 Nm of pull. On a full charge, Toyota says the bZ4X can cover up to 570 km. It also has two available drive modes: Eco and X-Mode.

As seen before, the Toyota bZ4X comes with a dynamic and angular appearance that’s dominated by sharp edges and distinct muscular curves. It has sleek LED headlights, two-tone 20-inch alloy wheels, black body cladding, a pair of eye-catching LED taillights, and a power tailgate with a kick sensor for easier opening and closing. Last but not least, the bZ4X has 200mm of ground clearance to make short work of rough terrain or some puddles of water.

Hop aboard, and the bZ4X welcomes you to a modern and high-tech cabin. Immediately grabbing your attention are a pair of displays. One is the 7-inch digital instrument cluster, while the other is a massive 14-inch touchscreen media system with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. It also has a pair of wireless charging pads to recharge mobile devices, as well as USB Type-C chargers for the front and rear occupants.

For extra convenience, the bZ4X also has synthetic leather seats, front & rear heated seats (also has ventilated seats for the front), and an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with a memory function. Additional peace of mind comes in the form of Toyota Safety Sense and comes with intelligent driver aids such as Pre-Collision System, Automatic High Beam, Adaptive High Beams, Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Alert, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (AKA Adaptive Cruise Control). It also has blind-spot monitoring and a 360-degree panoramic view for extra outside visibility.

“It takes time and strategic planning to roll out what we call our multi-pathway approach to carbon neutral mobility, which involves customer education and preparedness, and providing technologies and solutions that are most appropriate for the market's needs. From building up our widest lineup of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) and introducing Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) through our luxury brand Lexus, we believe we're ready to make BEVs more mainstream with the Toyota bZ4X, especially with Filipino users' better understanding of EV technologies and power mix along with improving charging infrastructure,” said Elijah Marcial, TMP first vice president for Vehicle Sales Operations.
