Say hello to the 2024 BMW iX1 and iX2 EVs. Now serving as the brand’s smallest (and most affordable) electric models in the local lineup, the BMW iX1 eDrive20 xLine and iX2 eDrive20 M Sport slot below the iX3 and are essentially the electric version of the all-new X1 (and X2) that were launched last year.

Starting with the most important aspect first, both the iX1 and iX2 are equipped with a 64.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that supplies power to a single electric motor that drives the front wheels. It makes a respectable 204 PS and a generous 250 Nm of torque. BMW claims the electric crossover can cover up to 473 km of range with a fully charged battery based on the WLTP cycle.

From a standstill, the iX1 and iX2 eDrive20 can go from 0 - 100 km/h in a respectable 8.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 170 km/h. When it comes to recharging the iX1, a standard 11kW charging station can fully recharge the battery in 6 hours and 30 minutes. With a 22kW charger, however, charge time is lessened to 3 hours and 45 minutes. Hook it up to a fast DC charging station rated at 130 kW and the iX1 can be recharged from 10% to 80% in around 29 minutes.

Design-wise, the iX1 and iX2 get their stylish looks that are heavily borrowed from the ICE-powered versions. However, that doesn’t mean BMW wasn’t able to play around with the iX1 and iX2's styling. Both crossovers get a closed-off grille with diamond-like inserts but the iX1 comes with unique 18-inch alloy wheels for the iX1 as part of the xLine package.

Meanwhile, the iX2 gets bigger 19-inch alloys as it gets the M Sport appearance pack. Other exterior features include LED adaptive headlights, a side mirror package, comfort access, a power tailgate, and satin aluminum trim pieces.

Hop inside and BMW's latest EVs feature the brand’s now-familiar digital dashboard called Live Cockpit Plus. It consists of a 10.25-inch high-definition instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch media display that’s powered by the latest iDrive 8.5. More importantly, the media system supports wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto and comes with satellite navigation as standard. Audiophiles will also be glad to know the iX1 and iX2 are fitted with a Harman Kardon sound system.

Other amenities present inside the new iX1 and iX2 include; a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Veganza perforated leather upholstery, power-adjustable sport front seats with memory function, a wireless charging pad, an Anthracite headliner, automatic start/stop, a parking assistant, as well as BMW ConnectedDrive services with the MyBMW app.
