Porsche reveals 992.2 generation 911 GT3 and Touring

The modern Porsche 911 offers a lot of variations, but the most coveted is arguably the GT3. With lightness in mind and a naturally aspirated mill, the motorsport-focused GT3 keeps the purest and most visceral driving experience in the Porsche rear-engined lineup.

The latest generation is the 992 that first came out in 2021. And now that it’s been 25 years since the first GT3 came out, Porsche has made a few small changes to the beloved GT3 and the GT3 Touring versions as part of its mid cycle refresh.

For 2025, the 911 GT3’s 4.0-liter, naturally aspirated flat six puts out 510 PS and 450 Nm of torque. Yes, the 992.2 has lost 20 Nm of torque because it has to conform to much stricter emissions standards. Boo.

All isn't lost though. To counteract that minor loss of torque, both the 7-speed PDK and the 6-speed manual (yes, it lives on) get a shorter final drive ratio, along with a host of solutions for a weight diet like the new aluminum wheels, and a new lithium ion battery that saves up to 4kg. In the lightest configuration, the new 911 GT3 tips the scales at just 1,420 kg.

As a result, the 911 GT3 and the Touring version can reach 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds with the PDK, and 3.7 seconds in the manual transmission version. Bury your foot all the way and the 911 GT3 will reach a Vmax of 311 km/h for the PDK and 313 km/h for the 6MT.

Along with this, Porsche engineers made changes to the frontend of the standard GT3 to match the geometry of its more hardcore GT3 RS sibling, and handles better since the front end dive under hard braking has been reduced.

In terms of the look, there are very minor changes for both the 911 GT3 and the Touring versions. Most of the changes were done to optimize aerodynamics and more effective cooling, while the Matrix LED headlights have also been redesigned. While the GT3 is not exactly a family sports car, you can now carry up to four passengers in the Touring version as rear seats are now available.

Porsche says the 992.2 generation of the 911 GT3 and Touring can now be ordered by dealers by the end of the year, but expect deliveries to commence by 2025.
