2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 gets all-terrain variant called XRT

Earlier this year, Hyundai announced they are introducing updates to their award-winning EV, the Ioniq 5. With enhancements to its all-electric range, new features, and some design revisions, the Korean market got first dibs on what the new and improved Ioniq 5 was all about.

Now, the revised model has crossed the Pacific and made its debut in the US market. It’s the first model manufactured in Hyundai’s Metaplant facility in Georgia, and it comes with a surprise for those who like to venture off the beaten path – there’s an all-terrain version called the Ioniq 5 XRT.

Compared to the standard Ioniq 5, the XRT version looks slightly more rugged with a unique front fascia, black accents, red-painted tow hooks, and a digital camo wrap on the bumpers and fender flares. Furthermore, the XRT has been lifted a further 0.9 inches to increase ground clearance, along with matte-black finished 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. For color choices, the XRT has Ultimate Red and Cosmic Blue Pearl offered as a variant-exclusive option.

Inside, the XRT features a unique H-Tex upholstery with embroidered XRT words on the headrest. Other XRT-specific goodies include a black headliner and all-weather floor mats.

As it is an all-terrain model, the XRT version comes only in the Long Range, dual motor setup with the new 84 kWh battery that gives up to 450 km of range. In terms of charging, the Ioniq 5 XRT comes equipped with the NACS (North American Charging Standard) port that enables the car to use Tesla’s Supercharger network. But perhaps, this feature could only be US-specific, and other markets will still have the Type 2 plug.

Like the South Korean market version, the updated Ioniq 5s in the US will feature reinforced chassis, doors, and pillars to improve collision protection. Other improvements include new shock absorbers to minimize road vibrations and additional sound insulation for the rear wheel motor to make the cabin quieter.
