11th gen Civic now has hybrid in PH

In late 2021, the 11th generation Honda Civic made its way to the Philippine market with all of its variants equipped with a 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo engine. But with the demand for hybrid vehicles growing in the country, Honda wants to join in with its popular sedan by giving it an electrified powertrain.

Honda Cars Philippines has previewed the updated Civic for the 2025 model year. Along with the new hybrid powertrain, the Civic has also been given some important exterior and interior updates to keep up with the rest of the competition.

In front, the new Civic has a redesigned bumper with a larger lower grille and slimmer side intakes. The rest of the body remains unchanged but the RS e:HEV now rolls on a handsome set of diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the updates include a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, and USB-C ports. For the top-spec RS e:HEV, it carries over the 12-speaker Bose sound system.

Exact specifications are yet to be disclosed, but for those who prefer a more powerful Civic and a more efficient powertrain, there’s the new 2.0-liter e:HEV that produces 184 PS and 315 Nm of torque paired to a dedicated hybrid transmission. Pure ICE versions, on the other hand, could still be available in lower variants of the Civic. The 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo is likely to have its power figures remain unchanged at 178 PS and 240 Nm of torque, while the sole transmission offer could be a CVT. Sorry Civic fans, there’s still no news of 6-speed manual just yet.

Other new features we can expect with the Civic include the Honda Connect service that was first debuted by the CR-V, and a further refined version of the Honda Sensing ADAS.

Honda will hold the official launch of the 2025 Civic at this October's Philippine International Motor Show.
