2025 BMW M4 CS is the heftier CSL, but with AWD

The middle ground between M4 Comp and M4 CSL

Two years ago, BMW unleashed its most potent coupe yet with the M4 CSL. With heavy use of carbon fiber to keep the weight down, the M4 CSL also has a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline six that will gladly deliver all 550 PS to the rear tires.

But what if you can exchange a little extra weight for better traction off the line and in loose surfaces? Say no more, says BMW. They now have the all-new M4 CS.

That’s right. The 2024 M4 CS sits as the middle ground between the M4 Competition and the hardcore M4 CSL, offering the latter’s power output while having the former’s all-wheel-drive system. As a result, the M4 CS becomes the fastest-accelerating M4 that you can buy nowadays, hitting 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.4 seconds against the 3.5 of the M4 Competition and 3.7 in the rear-wheel-drive CSL.

With 4WD and an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, the M4 CS lapped the Nurburgring at an impressive 7 minutes 21.989 seconds – pretty close but not better than the M4 CSL that lapped 1.5 seconds faster.

If you’ve seen the 2024 M3 CS super sedan being offered here in the country, then the M4 CS won’t surprise you anymore. After all, the M4 CS is basically the M3 CS in a two-door coupe body style.

Much like the CSL, BMW has also fitted several carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) panels to the M4 CS, including the front splitter and its air intakes, the hood, roof, the side mirror caps as well as the diffuser and rear spoiler.

Inside, the M4 CS has a distinctive black interior with red trims, while interior materials that you can see are mostly leather and Alcantara. The standard-issue M carbon seats, center console, paddle shifters, and some interior trim pieces were also made to put the M4 on a diet.

As a result, the M4 CS tips the scales at 1680 kg – 20 kg lighter than the M4 Competition but some 55 kg heavier than the CSL.

BMW says production of the M4 CS begins in July with deliveries coming later this year. For now, BMW Philippines is yet to confirm if the M4 CS will be offered here. But if they do, expect the pricing to be somewhere near the ballpark of the M3 CS that’s being sold for PHP 16.89 million.
