Ferrari has chopped the top off the Roma
After making an announcement last week, Ferrari Philippines distributor Velocita Motors Inc (VMI) has officially previewed the Roma Spider.

Serving as the brand’s latest 2+2 droptop, the 2024 Ferrari Roma Spider marks the brand’s launch of a new soft-top convertible decades after the 1969 Ferrari 365 GTS4. That’s right, instead of a folding metal roof, this one makes use of a fabric top.
The folding fabric roof can be deployed in as little as 13.5 seconds at speeds of up to 60 km/h. But it is perhaps the vehicle’s vast customization options that will make the fabric roof stand out. From various types of fabrics to unique contrast stitching options, there will be plenty of choices for customers to choose how the roof will look like.

While some might say the 2024 Roma Spider is simply a Ferrari Roma with a chopped-off roof, the automaker actually made some key changes to fit the folding fabric roof. The designers changed the rear end to accommodate the folding roof mechanism as well as the fabric top. In addition, they removed the Scuderia Ferrari side shields to give the Roma Spider a more minimalist-looking rear end.

At the front, the Roma Spider features a perforated grille surface that allows for better engine cooling and a more distinct appearance. It also gets a nice pair of LED headlights with stylish LED lighting signatures that give it a sleeker appearance. To top it all off, the Roma Spiders gets muscular fenders, flush door handles, stylish alloy wheels, quad exhausts, and carbon ceramic brakes.

From its stylish exterior, let’s check out the Roma Spider’s intricate cabin. This droptop is a 2+2 which means you can still have friends along for the ride with the top down. There’s a fully digital instrument cluster in front of the driver while an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto adorns the center dashboard.

Even the front passenger gets an 8.8-inch display wherein they can adjust the climate control, infotainment system, and navigation system. Despite its basic appearance, it’s there to help the driver in managing some of the controls should they have a co-pilot onboard.
The interior also comes with 18-way power-adjustable front seats, optional neck warmers for extra cabin comfort, a wind deflector to keep the wind at bay while driving with the roof down, steering wheel paddle shifters, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a unique gear selector.

Powering this Italian thoroughbred is a 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. It cranks out a whopping 620 PS and an impressive 760 Nm of torque. Paired with an 8-speed wet-type dual-clutch transmission, the Roma Spider can catapult itself from 0 - 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 320 km/h.

Those looking at getting a brand new convertible from the Prancing Horse can now reserve one at Velocita Motors Inc.’s temporary showroom at 169 EDSA, Wack-Wack, Mandaluyong City. Prices start at a cool PHP 29.5 million.
